Saved by the bell

So I take it everyone's happy just to call that one a draw are they? Seeing as the next game invaded the pitch with 54 seconds still to play that must be the only fair thing to do!

So close, yet so far. Alan injured himself in the first five minutes and I was playing on one leg for the last 20 minutes as well. Had we both been fit, who knows what would have happened.

All credit to the Tatties for keeping on in there and battling back in no small way to some individual brilliance from Ross. It was a good game so I hope everyone enjoyed it.

Next week Kyle and Scott are back, Neil is still on holiday and we'll have to wait and see how Alan and myself are.

Late team selection

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Hi guys - could you all bring both tops please as I might not have the teams up before the end of the day. Last week's busyness has carried over into this week!

Gordo, Alan and Jon are back. Kyle, Scott, Neil and Martie are out. Ross, Grant and Marc are in. Why not try picking your own teams?

UPDATE - Teams are up so hopefully will be a close encounter (see what I did there? Halloween and all? No? Oh forget it!)

Erm, what happened there then?

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Looking at the teams on paper, I can't quite work out how it ended up with eleven goals in it. In the first 20 minutes or so, there wasn't anything between the teams but then the Mince just seemed to have an extra man most of the time.

Next week Alan, Jon, Gordo and Martie should all be back. Neil is on holiday.

Tonight's going to be fast!

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Work is bedlam at the moment but I will have teams for you before kick off - they just might not be on the website, so bring both colours of top tonight.

Gordo's got a sore ankle, Neil's got the cold, Martie's got family stuff on, Jon and Alan are both on holiday.

Coming in are Ross, Marc, Grant and Robert. Fook!

"You're ruining the game!"

That quote from Andy might be my favourite of the season so far! It only added to what was a great game last night. It was close and competitive all the way through, with both teams being at least a couple of goals up at some point. All credit to everyone on the park for contributing to the game - MOTM should be a hard fought one this week so please all vote.

Next week Jon and Neil are away on holidays but Scott, Stuart, Foxy and Martie should be back. Steven will be tenth man.

Anyone got any thoughts on the Fitbaw Xmas Night Oot 2009 for a venue? A couple of folks mentioned that the Drum and Monkey was a bit small so let me know if you can think of a better option.

It was all going so well

The auto-teams looked OK to me this week but then we had three drop outs this morning meaning the ringers were called in. Foxy's got man flu, Martie's working and Stuart is entertaining a friend from Ireland. Steven, Marc and Grant replace them.

So, the auto-teams were a joke - imagine a team that had Steven, Kyle, Alan all in the same team. It didn't look good. So, what I've done is match up players who are beside each other in the table and then use those pairings to pick the teams. That way, we get the benefit of auto-teams (everyone has the best chance of improving their position) but with the manual intervention of making the teams as fair as we can.

I've tried to accommodate for the Steve but with Marc playing, it makes it a bit easier. Here's hoping it's a good game tomorrow and is nice and close.

Auto-teams announcment

Scott's away this week, and everyone else should be OK which means all hardcore, but no Hat of Doom. This is what the auto teams have thrown up:

What do we think?

Update - There have been a few dropouts so ignore those teams. Still hunting for ten.

I'm sure it will all work out

OK, so the teams weren't that balanced last night. Obviously, not everyone was playing at their statistical level so it's your own faults ;)

Next week I expect Martie back and no one else is off, so potential Hat of Dooom.

I've updated the stats.

Let the whinging commence!

Wednesday, October 07, 2009

This week, we have an all hardcore affair, not only that, but the top ten hardcore too! So, it seems only right that we use the auto-teams this week. So, it's 1, 4, 5, 8 and 10 vs 2, 3, 6, 7 and 9.

Please note that the rankings used are NOT the POTY ones but just a simple (total points)/(wins + losses + draws). This is to make it easy to add in ringers when required and so doesn't take into account the wee extra for games played.

Next year, to heck with it - I'm just going to rank everyone based on number of points and who ever has the most points is the POTY!

So, depending on your opinion of players and point of view, the teams may look unfair but these are statistically the fairest teams based on the seasons results to date. So there! That being said, if folks think that it won't work out, then I can just try and pick them manually. Please also note, that this is the way that we'll be doing it for the rest of the season so it'll probably even out.

Score pattern

Thursday, October 01, 2009

This is how it went last night; 0-3, 5-3, 5-5, 9-5, 9-7. The Tatties just seemed to run out of puff as the movement totally stopped towards the end. That, combined with Ross' individual goals meant a loss for the Tatties. At least it was pretty close and a competitive game. It was also nice to have Wills back for a brief visit and see a couple of those individual goals of his.

I don't know of anyone who's off next week so maybe a Hat of Doooom.
