A battle to the end

Thursday, August 27, 2009

A great game I though last night. Yes, it got a wee bit frisky towards the end but that's just because everyone was giving it 100% and it never spilled over into anything unpleasant which is the main thing. I'd rather see everyone trying right to the end and a close game if it means the odd wee niggle so well played to all.

Next week Gordo and Wills are back but Stuart and Kyle are still away. With Si still injured that leaves one spot open (Jon?).

I've updated the stats which haven't been done for a while.

Don't forget to get your MOTM votes in with a comment too please - we had a couple of anonymous votes last week. Ta.

"Level Stevens"

I believe, in my delirious state of exhaustion last night, that was the phrase I used to describe the scores. Nothing like mixing your metaphors and what not!

Next week Andy's back which gives us 10 out of 12 Hardcore - just Wills and Si injured at the moment. So potentially, an all Hardcore game next week!

Guess who's back? Back again!

Eeky's back! Tell you friends!

I feel sorry for who ever gets me in their team tonight. My last game, and my last real exercise was the 13th of May. If you don't remember me, look for the fat guy who's tired after walking out the changing rooms.

It was almost an all hardcore affair tonight but Wills got injured in a game of sevens and Andy had to work late. With a lot of the reserves busy due to the late notice, Marc has come in last minute to make up the tenth man.

I shall attempt to get teams selected before the game with the help of some folks who've played this side of summer.

See you all there! *Wheeeze*

Not so picky

Thursday, August 13, 2009

So the teams were picked just before the game with Andy and Scott as El Capitanos. However, Scott won a watch by picking first and then Andy not getting the next two picks and then Scott gets two picks and so on (which is how I think it should be done).

Anyway, it seemed to lead to somewhat unbalanced teams and so a pumping was handed out to the Mince. I'm sorry about the lack of picking recently - it seems to have led to some random teams which have resulted in games that haven't been the best. I'm back next week so will try and make the time to get something sorted (even though I've not seen you guys play for 12 weeks).

Next week sees a mass return of players. Foxy, Martie, myself, Kyle, Wills and Stuart are all back which could possibly mean a Hat of Doooom situation. Thanks to all the reserves who have helped out over the summer period. You shall not be forgotten and I hope to get a game for as many of you as possible in the run up the end of the season.

Cash wise, here's what Gordo has told me (thanks to him for getting the cash):

- Paul owes £6
- Robert owes £1
- Kitty owes Andy £4
- Kitty owes Alan £4
- Kitty owes Gordo £1

If any of that seems wrong, please let me know. Richard from last week also owes £6 but Wills is going to sort that out for me.

MOTM seems to be working this week, so get your comments in. Remember, I'm more likely to pick reserves that participate in the MOTM banter ;)

Another night of ringers

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Out

  • Foxy's still on holiday
  • Martie' in Norway with the Tartan Army
  • Stuart hurt his arse in a manly game of hockey
  • Si and I have buggered ankles (though I'm coming back next week no matter what!)
  • Kyle was down south until this morning so doesn't have kit with him
  • Wills is going out for dinner with his in-laws

In
  • Jon
  • Ross
  • Paul
  • Marc
  • Robert

No teams so pick them yourselves but in the interests of fairness, I would recommend not playing regulars vs ringers - no offence to the Hardcore ;)

Have a good game boys and I'll hopefully see you all next week. Please give your cash to Gordo.

MOTM comments busted

Thursday, August 06, 2009

Commenting on the MOTM poll doesn't seem to be working at the moment guys. Nothing to do with me so I can't fix it. In the meantime, feel free to use this post to add comments if you so wish.

Next week Neil, Andy and Gordo are back. Foxy, Martie, Wills, Si and Iain are out.

UPDATE - The comments are now working so please add yours.

Five times two

Wednesday, August 05, 2009

OUT

  • Gordo's in Manchester with work
  • Foxy's on holiday for the next two weeks
  • Iain's injured
  • Neil's on holiday
  • Si's injured
  • Andy's almost not injured and will be back next week

IN
  • Jon
  • Paul
  • Marc
  • Robert
  • Richard (a friend of William's)

I don't think I'll have time to get the teams up so please bring both tops and you guys can sort it out before kick off.

Last week's 4v4 didn't count for anything but those that played will receive an extra bonus in terms of games played in case it makes a difference at the end of the season.

Neil wins the MOTM and gets to be smug about his nutmegs even though it won't count in the table.
