Rampant ringers run regulars ragged

Thursday, March 26, 2009

When you have a bunch of unknowns, it's always hard to pick teams. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do much, we had no idea what Grant's form was and Big Stevie was a complete mystery to all (I think Andy and Ross have only played with him once or twice).

They were just better than us - passes, movement, shooting, defending. We have a better website though! Ha! Take that!

Next week it's Gordo's turn to pick the teams and hopefully we should have more regulars back.

In case you missed it, Kyle just pipped Jon to last week's MOTM vote.

Finally, Si wants a mention. Hi Si!

Where the hell is everyone?

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

We've been ticking along this season without any trouble getting ten players. There was even talk of the Hat of Dooooom a few times but this week it all went tits up!

  • Martie - still AWOL (but hopefully back next month)
  • Stuart - away up North for his birthday
  • Alan - baby sitting
  • Neil - still not feeling well with the virus he's got hanging around
  • Iain - sore knee from running
  • Scott - birthday plans (happy birthday bruv)
  • Craig - broken toe
  • Steven - sore knee/groin

I also tried Ponto, Gordo's mates, Wills' mates, Andy's mates and all of IDOX and still only managed to get nine players!

Jon and Ross play again and we also see the return of Grant for the first time in a while. Andy managed to get one of his guys from Monday Night Fitbaw, another Stevie, who apparently isn't as good as our Stevie but should fit in quite well - I think that means he'll be pretty good.

I'll step up and be the tenth man. Neil did offer but I think it's best he rests to try and shake off this virus he's had for a while. I'll probably be in goals most of the game but it's better than 4 v 5.

Gordo was meant to be picking the teams but he says he's "too busy" so he can do it next week and I'll just try and sort out the mess that we have this week. Who knows what will happen!

Booking balls up

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Kyle becomes the first player to pick the teams and win in a great game where the final scoreline in no way represents how close it actually was.

It was a slow start with the score level at 3-3 after 25 minutes. After that, the Tatties stepped up the pace and score three without reply while the Mince passed the ball about OK but were very static, leaving Kyle and Ross to try work some individual magic for a goal.

Slowly but surely, the Mince pulled it back and it sat at 6-6 for a while an the game looked as if it could have gone either way, but lucky for the Mince, they got a couple of goals lead and managed to hold that right to the end. In fact, with the Tatties chasing the game, the Mince managed a few breaks which flattered the scoreline considerably.

It was another week of all ten men really trying right to the end with some good football played by both sides and no real niggles so well done everyone - great game (though I may be biased because we won).

Next week Stuart is away up North for his Birthday (have a great time old man) but Gordo is back from his holidays, Andy shouldn't have to work late and hopefully Si will be fit again.

However, we forgot to book the pitch. Both Kyle and I were in before 9 and we both totally forgot so apologies to all. Reminders have now been set let, right and centre for every Wednesday to get the pitch booked. It just goes to show what a great job Foxy did for the last few years.

We are on the waiting list for a more favourable time but worst case scenario, who can't make 8pm KO? I'll send an email round anyway so you can reply to that with a yay or a nay (sorry Alan - I know it's hard for you to make the odd late kick off).

Finally, thanks to those of you who have supported Andy for his Sunday Session. If you've not bought your tickets, please do. Kyle, Si, Andy, Ross and myself will all be there so please come along and join us for a beer! You'll be helping a very good cause.

Kyle's contingents

It would have been Gordon's turn to pick the teams this week but he's away in Philadelphia proposing visiting his lady friend. Andy's working late, Scott's just back from Valencia and Si is recovering from the injury he picked up last week.

In comes Jon, Steven and, for this first time this season, Ross. That should make for quite a fast paced and probably skilful game. I'll be hiding in the corner if anyone wants to join me.

Dagnabbit!

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Another close and competitive game last night. Had Si been 100% fit and had we been able to convert the dozens of chances that we ballooned over the bar and had Neil and Alan not spent the entire night in goals being brilliant, it could have been so different. Ifs and buts. Ifs and buts. A good game none the less.

Next week Andy is working late, Gordon is in Philadelphia (again!) and Scott is just back from Valencia but catching up with the family. The reserves will hopefully be Jon and Steven.

I'll give you all a nudge again in the direction of Andy's Sunday Session. It's all for a good cause and it would be nice to put the "Beer" back into "Football + Beer = Fitbaw!". You can give the cash to Andy directly but it's easier if you use the donation site (plus Andy will get an extra few quid because of Gift Aid). Even if you can't make it, I'm sure Andy would appreciate any donation you could make.

Foxy finesses fine footballing factions

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Mr Fox has picked the teams this week and it's an all Hardcore affair with only Scott away in Valencia and Martie still AWOL.

Does anyone fancy an unofficial Fitbaw afternoon out? Andy is running the London Marathon this year and needs to raise a whole whack of cash for it. Rather than just asking folk for money, he's putting on an afternoon's entertainment and has called it "The Sunday Session".

That link has all the details but it's Sunday 5th April, 2pm onwards and £10 per ticket. All WAGs are welcome so why don't we get our better halves out to talk about shopping while we talk about fitbaw and feel smug as every pint we drink helps charity?

The more the merrier too so please tell all your friends and family.

No drama llama

Thursday, March 05, 2009

A closely fought game, with no controversies, no injuries, no drama in general! What the hell happened?

First off, well done Alan for picking the teams - best we've had for a while I reckon. Second, well played to all for some good football from both sides. I don't think I have much more to say.

Next week Scott is away in Valencia with the school for five days of football in the sun. It's a hard life eh?

Alan's army

Wednesday, March 04, 2009

Foxy's out this week, after his first win, with family stuff. Stuart's off to Ibrox and Andy's got a sore Achilles tendon. Scott, Gordo and Kyle are back and Jon and Steven make up the ten men.
