I have no idea what the score was or how the game went down but I do know that the challengers were victorious by quite a large margin. Well done to all who turned up to play in miserable conditions.
Obviously the challengers get to buy us all a beer to celebrate their victory!

Steven had rounded up five guys from the office and asked us for a game of fives - kind of an IDOX Fitbawers vs IDOX Non-Fitbawers. Ever keen to exert our dominance in the world of five-a-side football, the challenge was accepted. Except that most of the out IDOX guys got injured in the big POTY showdown.
All looked lost until Friday night when everyone seemed pissed enough to agree to one more outing this year. So, the game will go ahead tomorrow at 6:30pm on pitch 8. Playing for the original (and the best) Fitbaw team are:
Stuart, Andy Si, Kyle, Craigo and Ross (Andy's mate)
Playing for the challengers are:
Steven, Brad, Ross, David and Neil! (they had a guy drop out so Neil has agreed to step in for the opposition - I assume he'll not give away any of our secrets).
Have a good game guys and may the best team win.

Gordon's fine, by the way. No concussion and no need for any stitches as the skin had begun to knit together itself by the time he got there. He'll have a wee scar as a permanent reminder of how close he came to becoming the POTY. He's off work today to rest up (but also because he's got a giant, stupid looking plaster on his head).
Craig is also fine other than a nice bruise on his head but the bump did continue to grow all last night until it was quite a spectacular sight. Unfortunately, it's gone down now thanks to Craig wearing a a bag of peas as a hat most of the night.
So, the game. Oooh it was close! Obviously, I think that the Mince would have taken control again and romped to victory. We were just tired after taking that 5 goal lead, that was all. With Robert heading back to Germany, it's a shame it can never be replayed.
Congrats to Alan who is this year's POTY and well deserved it is too. Does anyone ever remember Alan having a bad game? He's been a rock in defence, unbeatable in goals and has played almost every game too. All hail Alan the POTY 2009! The stats have been updated to reflect the final result.
get your MOTM votes in ASAP so we have it decided in time for the awards. 6pm at The Drum and Monkey - if you're late, you get less free beer. Simple as that. The awards will kick off as soon as everyone gets there or 7pm - which ever comes first. See you then my fellow Fitbawers.

Who will win tonight's game? What are your thoughts on the teams?
Tuesday, December 09, 2008
Alan and Gordo have picked their teams and they are now up for you to begin the debate as to who will win the match and hence, Player of the Year 2008.
Foxy has pulled out as he has a sore calf and is meant to be doing a charity run this Sunday so doesn't want to get injured so Robert makes his final appearance at Fitbaw before heading back home to Germany for good.
Tomorrow's game will also decide the wooden spoon. If Alan's team loses, I will drop below Si and go from contender to pretender! It's all to play for!

Did anyone see that coming? I really thought that the teams were close and most folk I spoke to said the same. From what I hear, it was one of those nights where one team just all perform well and the other didn't have such a good game. C'est la vie!
The bright side is that is brings the POTY down to the final game of the season. Can Alan become the first player to win it more than once? Can Gordo complete his rise from bottom of the table a couple of years ago to the top? Tune in next week to find out!
Next week, Si has some family stuff on and Wills is still injured so it'll be a (practically) all Hardcore affair with Craig being the tenth man. Alan and Gordo will get to pick the teams so if anyone can't play, please let me know ASAP.
Finally, next Friday is the "Fitbaw Xmas Night Oot" at The Drum and Monkey. Buffet will be provided as will free beer until the kitty runs out. If anyone has been keeping track of the kitty and wondering why it's not as high as they though it should have been, I had to lift £14 to pay for the hosting fees for the year. Andy and Kyle will be doing the awards so bring your thickest skin ;)
If anyone can't make that originally said they could, please let me know ASAP as I have to go in tomorrow to confirm numbers for the food.

It's a head to head tonight between Alan and Gordon. If Alan wins, then he will be the first person to win POTY twice. If Gordon wins, then it all comes down to the final game of the season again! Exciting stuff!
Alan has a sore knee and Gordon has a sore ankle but both have agreed to play to make it fair on the other one so no one can accuse anyone of skipping games to conserve their lead - very commendable gentlemen.
Also out tonight are Kyle (working), Foxy (family stuff), Wills (injured knee) and myself (baby sitting - the Mrs has the flu).
In are Craigo, Robert and Steven. I know, I know - Steven always fecks the team picking up BUT he's only played fives (or football for that matter) once in four months or similar so isn't as fit as normal so hopefully that should help bring him down to our level.
Hopefully it should be a close and competitive game and you all enjoy it. Equal amounts of luck so Gordon and Alan. To battle!
