Neily says:

"Ach, we were just pish, and we should've been better and that's all there is to it."

Next week I hope to be back as I'm moving into the new house tomorrow or Saturday come hell or high water (but hopefully no more high water!). Kyle seems to be on a sabbatical at the moment after the drama lama incident the other week. Gordo should be back after injuring his foot this week at his Tuesday night game so we might have a full squad of regulars!

I've updated the stats and at the moment, I reckon anyone in the top 5 could win POTY at the moment but Wills is the current man to beat. Watch this space.

Thanks for everyone getting back to me so promptly about the night out. So far everyone can make it and I'm just waiting on hearing back from Kyle, Alan and Scott as well as the reserves. Still looking for volunteers for the awards - go on, you know you want to!

Annual Fitbaw Xmas Awards and Night Oot

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

I'm going to propose the 12th of December this year for the Xmas night oot. The IDOX Xmas lunch is on the 19th so that's out for a lot of us straight away to the nearest Friday is the 12th. If folks can't make the 12th, then it might have to be a Thursday and we just all turn up a bit bleary eyed to work on the Friday. If it was a Thursday, then we could do the 11th or the 18th.

As always, the venue will be the ever salubrious "The Old Print Works" with their always tasty £2/head buffet. There was chat of going somewhere a bit nicer seeing as the kitty was getting so big but we pretty much blew that one out the water with the summer booze up.

Finally, the awards. Si, Jon, Foxy, Neil and myself have all taken our turn(s) in writing up and dishing out the awards so I'm looking for a volunteer or two (or three if you're shy) to come up with this year's humiliation. It doesn't have to be a long speech or anything, just an award for each player based on their performance that season - the more piss taking, the better of course.

So, I'll email this around and see what date most of the hardcore can make and that'll decide it. Reserves will be invited too but it's more important that the hardcore can make it. Thoughts please.

The Fox Report

Foxy says:

Much better game than last week - 2 teams committed to playing good football. One of the better games we've had for a while and that was mostly down to everyone wanting to play football.

Next week Alan should be back but I'm not sure about Kyle at the moment.

Hi there!

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Hi, my name's Iain and I'll be your website guy until the end of the year. I've now used all my holidays and paternity leave so I'm back in the driving seat of fitbaw.org. However, I'm still "homeless", probably for another two weeks but I should be back in November to mount a late charge for POTY.

So no me this week, Alan's on holiday, Martie's still on his travels and Kyle's having a wee rest after last week's trauma (what ever the hell happened there - Gordo and/or Wills and/or Kyle, you guys need to kiss and make up, "It's only a gemme").

We'll also need to start thinking about the Xmas night out. Same as always chaps? The hardest part is trying to get a date that doesn't clash with all the other festive nights/lunches so if anyone knows definite dates they can't make (Fridays in December) then please drop me an email and let me know. Ta.

Well it didnt rain at least.

The score is in and the Man of the Match poll is up.
Next week Martie Iain and myself are out. which leaves one space to fill.
I am sure Jon would be delighted at filling the spot.

Will the rain stop by 6.30?

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Its pissing it down here, lets hope it stops!

Teams this week have been picked by Foxy.

Out we have:
Scott - No idea why. his name was crossed off on the board.
Iain - He is on holiday because, apparently, 3 weeks paternity leave isn't a holiday!
Martie - Is not in Thailand as previously reported. Working for the banks as he does he is apparently in Iceland. Its cheaper than Asda apparently and those bankers need to save every penny!
My Dad, A banker himself, said to me the other day "the banking collapse is worse than a divorce. I have lost half my assets and I still have a wife"

So stepping in we have Craig who was asked to play last week before Iain realised we had a full squad. so promised first refusal this week. Sorry to Jon and Grant who both wanted a game!

Hey! Not so wet!

Wednesday, October 08, 2008

Looks like considerably better conditions for tonight's game chaps - let's hope it holds up. This week's game is an all hardcore event. The only two missing are Martie (as always) and myself. We've still not been able to move into our new house so I really have to get that sorted before I can play fives again. Hopefully that will only be a few weeks more. I'll still sort numbers, the teams and the website but won't actually be playing. Teams to follow.

UPDATE - Teams are up and I've "chosen" them using the current stats. So it's 1v2, 3v4, etc, etc, which means that there's everything to fight for in tonight's game. Enjoy.

Neil's match report

Friday, October 03, 2008

The one where it rained and no-one could remember it (or wanted to remember it) well enough to do the write up

It was wet. When I kicked the ball I could feel water skooshing out of my boots. It made judgement difficult, touches unsure, balls slippery. At least it seemed to for one side.

The game got under way at a fair pace and with both the Mince and the Tats shaping up well. Then the Tatties scored, and scored and scored. The Taters ran strong and played clever and made a rapid succession of chances, none of which were passed up. By the time the Mince managed to get their first counter, they found themselves nine down and they were then forced to chase that lead for the rest of the game. It was the very epitome of the cheeky cockney cliché of a Lost Cause, chortling sadistically as every goal that was pulled back was snatched away again.

Final score is rumoured to have been in the 20-12 ball park, and that seems about right. Stuart was keeping the score the loudest, so perhaps he can verify?

To sum it up, you'd have to say it was a bit of a wash-out.

Hi!

Thursday, October 02, 2008

So I'm back in the driving seat but it looks like my first game back in charge wasn't so successful as the teams weren't so evenly balanced. From what I hear, Foxy and Gordo couldn't hit the side of a barn door, Alan was awesome in goals and Stuart was carving the defence up and scoring at will making it about ten goals in it to the Tatties.

If someone could let me know the score, that would be great. When I have that, I'll update the stats so you can see what's happened to the table over the last few weeks.

I hope to be back playing next week but we're still not in the new house so I might have some work to do there. Kyle seems to be feeling better so he should be back too. If anyone can't play next week, please let me know (even if you already have as I have everyone available for next week at the moment).
