Another new guy

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Scott had to pull out last night as he's picking up his new car tonight - kind of a last minute thing. Seeing as I was at home, I wasn't able to get in contact with the reserves that have played this year (Rom, Robert, etc) so got on the blower to try and find someone. Luckily, Andy was able to get one of his friends to play who he plays with on a Monday night - Ross. I have no idea about Ross' ability other than Andy says "He likes to think he's a Torres. A goal scorer..." so take from that what you will.

It's probably best that you all bring both tops and you can sort out the teams there when you find out how good Ross actually is. I'll not be there as the ankle still doesn't work properly. Enjoy!

Teams from:
- Foxy
- Gordo
- Kyle
- Stuart
- Alan
- Neil
- Si
- Andy
- Ross
- Craigo

Is that guy playing fives in his pants?

Thursday, April 24, 2008

Normally I'm gutted to miss Fitbaw but the fact that I didn't get to witness Si running around in his tight, black and yellow, knee length, magic pants made missing the game so much easier. Apart from that, I don't have much info about the game.

Next week Foxy is back and I'm hoping to play again.

Si ready for fitbaw

Another new face

Wills and Martie are long term out it looks like. Foxy is baby sitting and my ankle is still knackered. Craigo stepped in and that left one place to fill - only one, but it was a nightmare trying to get that one man. All the usual reserves are injured or unavailable and I went through 14 reserves till Si managed to get some chap from his work called Mark to play. I've asked Si for some details about Mark so I can try and pick fair teams so the teams will go up when I get that info.

What did I miss?

A great game apparently! I hear from the two Tatties players in my room (so this report my be slightly biased), that the Mince led for most of the game until near to the end when it went level and then both teams were one up at some point with the Tatties managing to hold on at the end thanks to some nice ball retention and some tactical Gordo hoofs out the park. Gutted to have missed it.

The stats have been updated (I didn't do it for a couple of weeks) so you can now check out the new standings.

I've also updated the archives to include the old match reports which make for some interesting reading.

Next week Foxy is babysitting, Martie is still down south, Wills probably will still be injured but I've not heard from him in a while and I'll just have to wait and see about my ankle. With Grant being injured, Craigo temporarily steps up into first reserve position.

Old Firm

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Andy's back this week but I am out - the ankle's still knackered. Wills and Martie are still missing and Grant has also done in his ankle, so Craigo makes up the tenth man.

Gordo was wondering is anyone was interested in hanging around after the game to watch the Old Firm match in the bar. He plans to and would be delighted if anyone wanted to join him.

Teams to follow at some point.

Better late than never

Sorry for the delay in posting this morning - I went to A & E to get my ankle checked out. It turns out that it's officially "sore but probably OK" - the NHS in full effect there ladies and gentleman.

SO last night the Mince were too static and had too many loose passes. The Tatties took advantage of the poor marking and played well. A decent enough game but I feel that had Stuart not been running on a tank of snot, it could have been closer.

Next week Andy is back from holiday and I'm assuming Martie and William are still out so assuming my ankle's OK, it'll be an all hardcore affair.

Si's back

Wednesday, April 09, 2008

Si's back from his twisted ankle and hopefully fighting fit. Martie's away in London still and Andy's on holiday in Valencia with his burd. William's knee continues to be sore.

Hardcore Andy

Thursday, April 03, 2008

There was some question of whether I'd over compensated for Steven when I picked the teams for yesterday's encounter but I'm (probably) going to stand by those teams. I picked them based on current form but last night, everyone in the Mince team played better than they have done for the last few weeks. Not only that, but they played well together (despite Kyle and Gordo having a wee moment early on) and that was the difference.

I think that when Steven is playing, everyone seems to try harder - I don't know why we don't try just as hard every week but there it is. Maybe Steven should play more often if it's going to make everyone else lift their game?

Next week Foxy is back as should be Si and Stuart. Wills has an appointment to get his knee looked at so he may be out for a while. Andy is on holiday.

Speaking of Andy, he has finally been promoted to Hardcore. Andy has played in every game other than three since the beginning of October which is more committed that about 90% of the squad! Well played Andy and welcome but minus points for going on holiday next week just after your promotion!

Unlucky for some?

The 13th game of the season tonight and it sees the return, for the first time this year, of Mr Steven Bruce. Now Steven has played before but we generally don't ask him much these days as he's just a bit too good and it's hard to balance the teams with him playing, but last week he said he fancied a game and this week we're really short to play he does.

Martie's still in London, Foxy's taking the wife out for her birthday, Stuart's got a bad cold and Si and Wills are still injured. Criago and Robert make up the ten.
