A good way to finish off the year I thought. It was close until Steven got into his stride and we all got knackered trying to chase him about but some nice football from everyone and some good goals to boot. Well done to Robert who acquitted himself well and also to Si who finally got himself his first win since January!
The first game back will be the 9th of January as long as we can get ten players but most folk I've spoken to seem to be available - I'll confirm numbers before the end of the week.
I hope all you have a great festive period and a cracking New Year - eat, drink and be merry and I'll see you all in 2008 for some fat boy fitbaw.
For the final game of the season we have new ringer. Robert is a relatively new start here at IDOX who enjoys a game of fives so, being a man short this week, I thought we'd give him a trial. I have no idea what kind of player he is or what he's like or anything but he plays squash too so must be relatively fit - anyway, it's only a kick about tonight.
William's shoulder still hurts so he's out, Kyle's back home for the Chrimbo holidays and Alan is in New Zealand at the moment visiting his in-laws.
Next year, we were talking about raising the subs to £6 rather than bother with a 50p every week which can be a pain in the arse. No doubt the cost of the pitch will go up again this year so that would be covered by the £6. It would also mean that the kitty would be pretty flush come this time next year so we might be able to splash out a bit for the night out - at least free booze all night and maybe some proper food and not the crappy £2/head buffet.
So, thoughts on the subs thing? use the poll below:

The first two go to people who sadly can’t be with us this evening:
The Scarlet Pimpernel award for most successful vanishing act goes to Donny.
The PISH award for a Person Impersonating A Soccer Hero, but still coming bottom of the league goes to William.
The Tartan Army National Service award for getting behind the boys and giving the whole country a reason to enjoy their football goes to Martie.
For his sexy black undershorts, the La Senza award for adventures in underwear goes to Simon.
For winning 6 and drawing 1 of this last 7 games purely to achieve the 1.5 average that he started out with the Stuart Munro award for outstanding mediocrity goes to Neil.
The ROCK award (Reliable Old Campaign King) for reliability, dependability and sheer year long consistency goes to Alan.
The Moody Blue award for constant and unending whingeing goes to Kyle.
The Dug Ate My Fitbaw Boots award for the worst excuse for not playing goes to Scott. We’re hoping he’ll take this to heart and come up with much better excuses now that he’s a member of the hard core.
The Con-toe-versey award for inadvertently being at the centre of the biggest stooshie of the year goes to Stuart.
The Ally Bain award for logistical prestidigitation in all aspects of "match arranging" goes to Eeky. And we’re proud to present this special commemorative calculator, and a voucher-based token of our esteem.
Player’s player of the year, the player with the most man of the match votes, and the most uses of the "babysitting" excuse, the MOM of the Year award goes to Foxy.
Lastly, we don’t know exactly how, because he’s never exactly been a purist's player, but it surely has something to do with the fact that every week since he started at the Fitbaw he gave a consistent 100% effort from beginning to end, the Player Of The Year award goes to Karl.

First off a huge thanks to you guys for my Greaves vouchers - it was really kind of you and very much appreciated. Watch out for a sharp looking Eeky on the fitbaw parks in 2008!
Another huge thanks to Foxy and Neil for their hard work on Friday with the awards. It was another successful night and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Onwards to the new season - may it be as good as 2007, if not better.
But before we move on, there will be one last game this Wednesday. It's just for laughs as the stats are closed off for this year - have a look, they've been jazzed up! The game is at the usual time of 6:30pm and is on park 8. We already have ten though I just need to confirm Steven and Andy.

My nephew Andrew Muir was showing his mate, Devlin, that our website was top in a Google seach for "Fitbaw". Devlin didn't believe that it was run my me, Andrew's uncle, so this is just to prove Andrew right and young Mr Devlin wrong!

I stayed late last night and finished off the website. "Finished?" I hear you ask, "I thought it was finished and looked fantastic Iain, well done!". There were a few dead links on the navigation menu - I had never gotten round to adding in the archives, media and links sections, but now I have!
The archives are just all the old front page posts. At the moment they go as far back as August 2004 but I still have a few more pages from the olden days to convert and add.
The media page has links to photo sets on Flickr as well as our infamous YouTube video.
The links page I'll expand over time to add in Fitbaw related stuff but at the moment it has the 15 most recent things that I have stumbled over on my never ending journey through the series of tubes that is the intarwebs. It's imported automatically from my del.icio.us account.
So there we go - all done. Now that it is done, I have some ideas to improve things for me to make running the show a bit easier but I'm also open to suggestions from the floor - is there anything you guys want to see added/changed/removed/improved? Just drop me an email and let me know.

That's what would have been what was required for us to get ten players onto the park this week. No one is around and eight of the regulars are away or unable to play this week so the game is cancelled - booo.
I didn't want to finish on last week's disaster but I'm sure the Mince team will be quite happy to finish off a season the way they did.
See you all on Friday for the Foxy and Neil show - 6pm onwards.

Thanks to the identity stealing website Facebook, you can now stalk Karl's every move
I've updated the style sheet on the site to give it a Christmasy feel. If you don't see the changes then press shift and reload the page. If you still don't see it then you'll need to clean out your browser's cache.
Q: What do you get if you cross five football players all paying really well with five football players all playing really, really pish?
A: An embarrassingly one sided game, a disappointed Eeky and Alan and a new POTY!
That's not to take anything away from the Mince men who all played really well and deserved to win. To a man they were all on form and did everything right. They also got every break of the ball. I won't even complain about the sixth man that they had in the shape of the post - man that post saved a lot of our shots!
Congrats to Karl who battled hard last night and scored some great goals. It's shame you won't be around to collect your award - maybe I'll just take it home :). Karl will be missed on Wednesday nights - his high kicking karate moves to intercept the ball, his slow motion turns (that still seem to work even though we've been watching him to them for three years) and his ever present, motionless hair do. All the best in Finland with your new family young sir. Karl's now on
Facebook for those of you who use it - I can't find him at the moment but if I do I'll stick a link here.
Next week Foxy is in New York, Karl is in Finland, Gordo is in Brazil, Jon is in Australia, William is in Rome and Stuart & Martie are going to Ibrox - what a far flung, well travelled bunch of guys we are. For those of us left in Glasgow, I'll try get ten players so we can have a game. I know the battle is over for POTY but I hope Fitbaw is more than just POTY.

Tonight is the last game of fives young Karl will ever play with us. Karl's first game was as a reserve on the 17th November 2004 which he won 13-8. Tonight will be his 133rd game of Fitbaw. If he wins, he will be POTY. If he loses then it's Alan vs Iain in the final game of the season. It's all up for grabs.
It's because it's all up for grabs that there are no teams yet. I was going to pick them with Karl today but Karl doesn't work here any more so I couldn't do that. There are also a few variable to take into consideration - Stuart asked to be replaced this morning as he has a "storming cold" (his words) that he brought back from Rome where he's been over the past few days. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a replacement as I used up all the reserves already this week but Stu says he'll still play. Hopefully that means he'll be OK to score goals and the like but we'll decide that when we see him. Martie is back from the big smoke and raring to go though he did remind me to take into account his fitness as he's not played in a month.
Foxy has a tummy bug i.e. the squits, William's shoulder is still too sore to play and Kyle is in Spain at the moment. Scott, Andy and wee Allan are playing to give us our ten.
