New lucky shirt

Cracker of a game last night chaps. I did wonder at the teams initially as the Tatties seemed to have a much stringer strike force but they seemed to start in disarray and the Mincers managed to quickly pick up a healthy lead. As soon as this happened, the Tatties decided to start playing properly and the Mince decided to stop playing. I apologies to my team mates for giving the ball away for too easily quite a few times last night!

By the time the Mince got their act together, the game was very evenly balanced and stayed that was for a bit until the Mince managed to pick up a lead again. Just like before, the Tatties pulled it back till there was only one or two in it and that's how it finished with the Mince trying to hold on until the clock ran out and the Tatties looking for that equalising goal. Well played to all.

Next week Stu should be back but Kyle might be missing next week to recover from his half marathon that he's running at the weekend. If anyone's not sponsored Kyle who wants to then it's for Leukaemia Research - drop him or me an email with your pledge.

It's toe soon for Stuart

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Stu requires one more week he thinkgs. Foxy is off to Parkhead too if the Shellic can squeeze a win. Scott and Craig make it ten men.

Double draw

Thursday, August 23, 2007

So we had our first draw of the season last night. Some may say that we the Mince were one up but I most folk seemed to think it was a draw. Either way, it felt like a draw and it's only a game anyway!

It was a good fightback by the Mincers after being 8-2 down and it was a hard fought, close game all the way through. To be honest, the fact we had ten men (even if it was just for 50 minutes or so) was a bonus.

Next week sees the return of Stu "The Toe" Marshall and Foxy is watching The 'Tic game at Parkhead. Scott is going to play again (I will remind him before the event just to be sure he turns up) so that gives us ten already. Hurrah.

In the massive debate that raged on regarding what to do with the broken toe game, I have made it a draw until such time as we can have a rematch of the rematch. If we don't then it stands as a draw but hopefully we should get the chance to replay it now that Stuart is back (but we'll wait till he's fully fit of course).

Stats have been updated for the first time in a few weeks due to the nine man games and MOTM is up for your voting pleasure.

Scunnered

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

I canny believe it. This morning we had ten men - Scott in for Stuart and everyone else playing. Not long after I had this all sorted, I got a call offering me free tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers gig at Hampden! The only down side being that it was on Wednesday night! OH NOES!

I only accepted once I had lined Liam up to take my place. No sooner had I done that, then I was informed that the person with the tickets had the day wrong and the gig was actually Thursday night. Bugger! Not only that but I have plans on Thursday so I can't even go! So no Fitbaw for me this week, nor I am going to the gig as a substitute. Cack.

I did email Liam just to say this if he was only playing to help us out and didn't really want to to play then he didn't have to but nothing back from him yet. I'll bring my kit and look for people to kick throughout the day tomorrow. You've been warned!

Teams will go up tomorrow as usual.

Bugger. This cheered me up though...

Jet lag

Thursday, August 16, 2007

Kevin flew in on Monday from the States. Martie asked him on Tuesday if he'd want a game. Kev said he'd be fine by Wednesday but apparently, he was not. He totally just passed out. Obviously, last night's game was just for fun.

Speaking of which, there has been some moaning about the result standing for the game where Stuart broke his toe. I initially let the result stand because Stuart played on for 90% of the game. In the past, when someone has gotten themselves injured and had to play in goals, we've kept the result. Should that change just because Stuart when off with 5 minutes to go? Also, what about the week where I only played because we couldn't get anyone else? I was in goals most of the game and of no use out field. We lost that game but no one complained then! Anyway, you get my take on the match - what's yours. We will make it fair and democratic. Vote!

Stu's Toe
Should the broken toe game result stand?

Yes - we've done it in the past so that's fair
No - I lost so I don't want it to count.

Happy Birthday Karl

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Karl's off this week as he's out with the missus for his birthday - hope you have a good night mate. Stuart's toe is still busted but hopefully won't be for much longer and Foxy has got family stuff on tonight.

Scott is NOT playing as he's got plans tonight but Crigio is in. Kevin and Paul (Martie's mates who have played before) make up the ten.

Yellow card

Thursday, August 09, 2007

Scott apologises profusely to every one - he just plain forgot. I will take part of the blame too because I was trying to be organised and arranged Scott to play last week rather than this week and never bothered to remind Scott - I thought he was an organised chap who would remember his commitments. Maybe I should rethink allowing him to marry my wee sister! ;)

Anyway, thanks everyone for playing along anyway and also to Foxy for stepping down and giving us a 4 v 4. If only we had decided to play that "only score with a volley" game sooner - it was great fun.

Next week, Stuart is still out and, unfortunately Scott won't be able to play so I'll see who I can scare up.

No MOTM match this week as last night didn't count for anything.

Another toe bites the dust

Wednesday, August 08, 2007

Stuart's toe is officially broken and so he'll be out for a few weeks. Alan and Neil are back and Scott is playing again which gives us our ten. Looks like another scorcher!

Hard

Thursday, August 02, 2007

Did anyone else find last night's game particularly hard work? I thought it was tight all the way through (apart from our wee run in the middle of the second half) but it was a great fight back from the Mince men to leave the gap only two at the end. I am thoroughly knackered today. Must be my age!

In case anyone missed it, last week's MOTM was a three way tie between Gordo, Foxy and Neil. Well done chaps.

I also forgot to update the stats last week so I'd like to point out that Gordo was at the top of the table then. They are now right up to date and at just over half way through the season, the POTY could go to any one of six or seven players (mathematically it could go to anyone I think). Gordo has a significant lead in the MOTM table.

Next week Alan and Neil are back but I don't know about Stuart. I never seem to get emails from him and the ones I send all fail. Stu, could you email me please in case I have you address wrong and if anyone has a working email address for Stuart, could they send it on to me please. Assuming Stu is out, Scott's kindly agreed to play again.

Nine and a bit

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

We were struggling for numbers this week. Stu's toe is busted, Neil's gigging and Alan is on holiday. I managed to get Scott and Craigo to play but we were still one short. Thankfully Scott managed to get his mate Andy to play. However, Andy has a sore heel so will be playing in goals and may try to come outfield for a wee bit. We'll see how it goes.
