That's the first time in ages we've actually played the full hour as well as the maximum five minutes extra time, and we needed all 65mins to win the game. It's always better when it's close, and close it was. The Mince took and early lead but never managed to get more than four in front which the Tatties picked away at until it was level. It was level a few times with both sides going in front for brief periods before a couple of late goals from the Mince snatched victory.
Next week William is back from holiday and hopefully Karl will be fit. Stuart is on holiday in Portugal and I'm away to Italy. I'll try have two more players lined up before I go and leave you in Kylie's very capable hands.

It looks good at the moment but the forecast is for rain so bring yer wellies and sunglasses.
Karl is back from holiday but moves into pole position in the "crap excuses for not playing" award with this beauty - "I was trampolining on holiday and landed on my head". Brilliant! William is still away but Neil is back. Craigo and Kevin make up the ten.
I'm playing but pulled my groin at the weekend a wee bit (in the sixes tournament!) but we couldn't get anyone else to play so I'll just go in nets for most of it or just walk a out at the back. Hopefully that's better than a 4 v 5 game.

Last year we got to the quarter finals of the Plate competition without scoring a goal. This year our aim was to try and get as far, if not further but this time actually stick the ball in the back of the net. And we did. Twelve times in eight matches!
We played five group games of which we won two (Edinburgh City, Bristol Rovers), lost two (Queens Park - could have won that later in the day when we knew what we were doing, and Aidrie) and drew one (Partick Thistle - could have taken them too!) which wasn't enough to get us into the Cup competition but we did qualify for the Plate (that's where all the real action was anyway). Once we got there, we won our first two matches (Leyton Orient and Edinburgh City again) and proceeded to the semi-final. One more and we were in the final!!! But it wasn't to be and St Mirren got a jammy goal that put us out the tournament. That meant we could get the beers in a lot earlier so wasn't all bad.
Big Stu was the teams top goal scorer with a mighty four goals, three of which coming in the one game! Hat trick from the big man! Gordo got two (and a half, though I'm not sure just throwing the ball into the net should really count). I even managed to put away a stunning right footed drive from outside the box - wooo! Craigo had a fine day in goals using everything other than his hands for many a fine save.
It was a great day out. The rain stayed away and most of the boys have pink faces and heads. Roll on next year!

Ah well - sometimes the teams just don't work out. Poor Tatties - there's always next week! Thanks to Martie for getting Paul and Kevin to play though I doubt we'll ever get them to come back after getting their arses handed to them!
Next week William is on holiday but Neil and Karl will be back - that leaves one spot to fill.
This Saturday is the Ian Younger Sixes and a few of us are representing the Mighty Rangers - Martie, Gordo, Stuart, Kyle, Craigo and myself. Come and watch if you've nothing better to do! Details on that link.

We have seven, count them, seven, players out this week. Donny and Si of course but Gordo threw his back out carrying his shopping up the stairs (manly!), Neil is away with work, William is still sorting out my wages, Karl is on holiday and I managed to strain my hamstring after last week's battle royal.
Steven, Scott and Craigo are playing but after that, it began to get tricky. I basically asked everyone who's ever played for us if they could make it and no one could but luckily Martie has managed to get a couple of his mates to play - Paul and Kevin. Paul has played before and, if I remember correctly, is pretty handy. I don't think I've met Kevin before so Martie is going to have a shot at picking the teams. It's always really hard to get fair teams when you have ringers playing but I'm sure it'll still be a good game with lots on skill on show.
Could everyone give their cash to me in work or Kyle if it's up at the pitches please. Teams will go up when I get them back from Martie.
UPDATE - Teams are up and Martie picked them. He says Kevin and Paul are quite handy so hopefully will be a good game. Scunnered to not be playing :(

That was one of the best games we've had in ages. It was very competitive all the way through with both sides working really hard. There were a lot of last ditch tackles and blocks that could have swayed the game for either side. All in all, I thought everyone played really well and it was a great game. I am now officially knackered though.
Next week Karl is still on holiday and Neil is away with work. William should hopefully be back for his first game as HARDCORE!

William was happy to accept promotion to the hardcore but can't play this week as he has to work late to make sure all us IDOX lot get paid so that's just fine with me! Karl is on holiday so Steven and Scott are playing in what I hope should be a balanced game but that Steven just makes it bloomin' difficult!

So that was Jon's last game for us (this year anyway - he may be back in about a year's time) and it's a shame that he couldn't go out with a win but when Alan decides to develop a finishing touch like he displayed last night then there's not much anyone can do! At least we had 10 full fledged members playing in his testimonial (the first time since the second week). Best of luck Jon and stay in touch.
With Jon leaving, it's time to promote William up to the hardcore. Wills has played on and off since we started Wednesday night Fitbaw and recently has played every week. He only missed out this week with a sore foot from last week's game.
It was also good to see the Old Silver Fox back too - he didn't seem that unfit at all and showed he still has the odd move and goal left in him.
Next week Karl is on holiday for two weeks and Foxy has an exam so may or may not be able to make it. Hopefully William will be back.
Finally, Stu - I forgot to take your fiver off you last night so that'll be a ten spot next week my good fellow.

So tonight we say farewell to Jon. Jon played his first game for Fitbaw way back on the 20th July 2005 and since then, has played a total of 76 games (tonight will be his 77th) of which he has won 33, lost 38 and drawn 5. Jon has won MOTM 7.17 times and almost won POTY last season which was his first full season in the hardcore. He has been a true asset to the squad and will be sorely missed.
Ladies and gentlemen, Jon.
