Return of the regulars and old ringers

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

Jon and Martie both make their comebacks this week but Foxy has stuff on this week so can't make it and Kyle's away home this week. Si is going to be a few weeks yet and I don't we'll see Donny for a while!

So we needed ringers and William was happy to play but almost everyone else that has played for us in the past wasn't available. Luckily, The Ponto's game was cancelled this week so he will be completing the squad.

Teams are up!

Donny goes for broke!

Thursday, February 22, 2007

I got a text message from Donny this morning reporting that he has actually broken his ankle and is currently sporting the latest in plaster based footware. That means he'll be missing quite a few weeks.

I'm sure we all wish Donny a speedy recovery.

Four vs four counts for nothing

Just as the Tatties looked to increase their 2-1 lead, Donny swung and missed and went right over on his ankle in what looked to be a real sore one. Exit Donny and Gordo, who didn't fancy another night of five vs four (his Tuesday night game was a nine man encounter too). Fair doos to Gordo as four vs four is always a better option.

So four vs four it was with a keeper and with nothing up for grabs any more (we'd decided that the game wasn't going to count), all the tricks were coming out. I tried to beat a man one on one and lost out every time, Alan tried scoring and scored almost every time, Kyle tried every manoeuvre he's seen on the telly and tripped up almost every time (although he did score a screamer from well inside his own half), Foxy tried to score from his own goal and failed every time, Karl tried hitting the ball first time and scored a belter on his left peg but not every time, Stu and Liam just pinged the ball about and score most of the time and Neil just played his usual game and didn't actually score!

Next week Martie and Jon are back but it looks like Donny will be out for a good few weeks - I'll keep you all posted. Si's still out as well but if you count Kyle, we should have ten as it stands.

Another ringer enters the fray

Do you remember Liam? Stu's mate? End of last season? No? Anyway, he's playing again. Si and Jon are both injured (groin strains). Martie is STILL down south with work but should be back next week. Kyle's in of course but William's injured and Steve's busy. I couldn't get hold of Brad so Stu managed to get Liam to play.

Pitch eight this week for a change.

Goals! Goals! Goals!

Thursday, February 15, 2007

That was the highest scoring game since 13th July 2005 and the fourth highest scoring game of all time - did anyone not manage to bag at least one?

It was probably one of the most changeable games too. First the Tatties went into the lead then the Mincer pulled it back to level. Then they went three goals up but the Tats clawed it back to level. It stayed that way with only one goals in it or level for a bit then the Tatties found a third wind and pulled away for the win. I think the score line doesn't really reflect how close it was.

Steve mentioned that he thought his team was lacking in finishing power and maybe that was the difference in front of goal but some nice football was played by both sides regardless.

Next week Martie should be back from his exotic travels but Jon is going to rest his groin to try and get rid of the slight strain he has once and for all. Si probs has another 2-3 weeks on the sidelines.

Stats and MOTM are all up.

Say hi to Brad

Wednesday, February 14, 2007

With Martie still down South on business, Si still nursing aching baws and Stu struggling to get over his cold, the scramble was on to find reserves. Kyle, or course, was ready and willing but we still needed one more. Steve couldn't make it as he had Valentine's plans as did William. A new face was needed and luckily, we had a new sales guy start in our office - Brad! Brad used to play (or maybe still does) a bit of fives quite regularly and sees himself in the "midfield/headless chicken" role (his words, not mine). Sounds like a perfect fit for our game!

Update - Gordo managed to injure himself at his Tuesday night game so pulled out this morning. Luckily Steve has agreed to give up his hot plans with his new 42" TV to play.

Not so close

Thursday, February 08, 2007

Sorry about yesterday lads. I had a huge problem at work and had no time for anything other than that. If I could have found a spare player then I would have ducked out of last night's game just so I could work on. But I couldn't so I didn't so there. Kyle picked the teams so you can all blame him for it not being a close game last night.

To be honest, looking at the teams, I didn't think the score would be as big as it was - normally that Mince team would have given most other teams a thrashing but it was one of those nights. The good played good and rest, not so good. I didn't help the Mince that Jon was carrying an injury and had to pull up a few times but well played to him for keeping going.

MOTM and stats are updated. I promise to try and lose next week! ;)

Speaking of which, it looks like Si is going to be out for another four weeks at least, Martie is still away with work and Jon's injury may rule him out of next week too. Kyle's definitely in and we may need one more depending on if Jon can play or not.

Nightmare

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

Si, Martie and Neil are out. Kyle and Steve are in.

I'm having a nightmare at work at the moment so just bring both tops and we'll sort it out there. Pitch 6 again I think.

Against all odds

Thursday, February 01, 2007

I must admit, after I picked the teams I did think that the Tatties were on for a pumping and when the Mince men went four goals up I thought it was all over. Well played the the Tatties for clawing their way back into the game and pulling level. The only time we went ahead was when we got that last goal. Then followed ten minutes of five men behind the ball and trying to snatch a goal on the break. It just seemed that the Mince couldn't score. Well played to all for a great game.

Stu's back next week but Martie may still be away - to be confirmed. Jon may also be out after straining his groin a bit last night. If those in doubt could let me know by Monday morning please.
