They think it's all over!

It is now! The draw last night secured Stu his first ever POTY. That's second and first in his first two seasons with us - well played big man and congratulations. Beers on Stu! There are still individual battles going on up and down the table. I shall try to accommodate these for next week to give everyone a chance to step up a place wherever possible so there's still a lot to play for!

Now, to the game. It was a close start with both teams knocking in two goals a piece. Then the Tatties decided to up the ante with 6 goals without answer. "Here we go!" I thought until Foxy decided he wasn't having any of that and stepped up to the mark. Fancy foot work and a bit too much space allowed him to slot home some long range efforts. Add that to some goals from our new POTY and the scores were soon level. The pain didn't stop there for the Tatties - the Mincers then went four ahead! That was ten goals without reply and it looked like a pumping was on the cards. However, the Tatties rallied and began to move the ball about again (we'll most of us did - Kyle just kept the ball at his feet and ran about with it refusing to pass to anyone!) and the goals started to come. Si then sealed the draw with a blistering strike from just past halfway. A minute later the game was over and everyone was left feeling a bit knackered but happy after what was one of the best games of the year.

Night out is next Friday. The Old Printworks from 6pm. There will be a buffet of sangers and sausage rolls and an assortment of deep fried nasties. I have a final total of 13.5 guys coming. Si and Jon are going to be coming up with the awards this year so be warned! If for any reason you're no longer able to make it, please let me know.

Penultinate match time!

Up until yesterday we actually had all ten of the remaining hardcore players fit and available! That meant that super sub Donny wasn't going to get a game. Then Gordo managed to injure himself last night in his game when he tried to kick somebody and missed. This opened the door for Donny but he had already made alternate plans. Luckily, Kyle is going to dash home after work and grab his kit.

This leaves me with just the teams to pick which is currently proving quite difficult due to a player type imbalance. I'm also rather busy this afternoon but will get the teams up before the end of the day - we've seen what happens when I let other people chose the teams!

As a "by the way", Neil, Gordo and Stu all tied for last week's MOTM.

Do we have our new POTY?

I've got worked out all the permutations yet but Stu's win last night may well have seal the Player of the Year title for him. I'm in meetings all day tomorrow (posting from home after the game) but I'll try work it all out at lunch.

Onto the game itself - Stu and Jon picked the teams and Jon actually got first pick. Just goes to show you how tricky picking the teams is! I never expected the difference to be so big but all of the Tatties played really well and although the Mincers did start a bit of a fight back it was all left a bit late. I wonder if Gordo will be able to speak after all the shouting he was doing but it seemed to work!

Anyway, it was a good game and well done to the Mincers for keeping on going and the Tatties for playing some nice football. Also well done to Luca for an excellent debut.

Away and vote your MOTM now please!

Chasing the ten

Martie's on holiday, Donny's working late and Si's impaled his foot on a rusty nail.

Kyle's playing but that still leaves us one man short. Steve and William are a no go but we have a new recruit to make up the ten. Luca from our Machester office has now moved up to Glasgow and offered his services so he can grab his kit at lunch and we'll be good to go!

I shall attempt to pick teams but have no idea of Luca's standard. Maybe we'll make him do a trial at lunchtime!

UPDATE - I've been in a training thing all day today and have more still to do so there won't be any teams. Bring both tops and we'll sort it out when we're up there. Ta.

Raindrops keep falling on my head

Well not on my head as I was inside with cheesy beanos on toast and the telly! It looked miserable last night so well done for toughing it out and playing through.

I'm not 100% sure of the score so if anyone knows any better then let me know. The win for Stu puts him clear at the top for the first time this season I think.

Next week Martie is away to Paris but I think everyone else should be fine - let me know ASAP if you're not.

Foxy's got a parents' night for this Fox cub. Jon's not well and I'm still feeling crappy after a weekend spent on the bog (fun!).

Karl's making his big comeback and Kyle and Steven are filling the gaps.

In my absence, could the non-IDOX chaps please give their money to El Gordo. Ta

All square at the top

Jon's loss last night has left him and Stuart on exactly the same points, only separated by goal difference - exciting stuff! What we'll do is the same as last year - we'll keep them both in the same team for the next three weeks and split them for the final show down - winner takes all. Can Stu steal it in the last game? Will he buckle under the pressure again? Of course, we'll let the boys choose their own teams for that game so there can be no accusation of match fixing! ;)

So last night's game was a brammer! I thought the Tatties were on for a sound pumping as Gordo had his shooting boots on and the Mincers were passing the ball about really well. But then the Tats decided to stop giving the ball away and, combined with some good individual goals from Kyle and Foxy and some strong defending, managed to draw level! After that it was a deadlock with no goals for a good ten minutes. The Tatties eventually took the lead but the Mince pulled a few back at the end but it was just not enough. Well played to all - that's more like it!

MOTM and stats are up for your viewing and voting pleasure. Sorry about the delay on the posts this morning but there were some technical difficulties with the Blogger site.

Next week Foxy is away but hopefully Kyle and Stu will be back. Pitch 6 again.

5 games and counting

Karl is still nursing and ankle injury and Big Stu is off the Ibrox tonight for the cup tie. Donny and Kylie make up the ten.

Well at least we had 10 men for 60 minutes

Thursday, November 02, 2006

Now that's why I normally pick the teams! Anyway, at least we managed to get a full game this week. Stats and MOTM are up. Away and vote.

Karl's still having trouble with his ankle so we'll have to wait and see about him but if he plays, then we should have 10 regulars playing next week which hasn't happened since the 19th of July!

The night out is confirmed for the 8th of December and most folk are coming. I'm still waiting on confirmation from Foxy, Neil and Craigo. Alan and Creeky are 90% OK. That also means that it's awards time again. If you have anyone you would like to nominate for an award then just drop me an email. All ideas really appreciated seeing as this will be our third set of awards and I'm running out of ideas on how to abuse you all.
