Ronaldo's 15 World Cup goals

Who can tell these days

Thursday, June 29, 2006

Looking at the teams last night, on paper, I thought the Tatties had the stronger team but as Si says you just can't tell what's going to happen. I think as long as you split up the slightly stronger players you could almost have any combination of players and the game would look relatively even.

Anyway, onto next week. I imagine Craig and Creeky will be back but Gordo is still on holiday. Foxy is also away on a company jolly to play golf which means if everyone else is fit, we should have our ten.

Team picking is a science

Wednesday, June 28, 2006

I've invented a new and extremely scientific way of picking the teams. What I now do is match everyone up against the player they are most similar to. For example, Stuart and Foxy. I do this with all ten players until we have two pools on five, the left and rights with the idea being that the player on the left is of equivalent ability to the player on the right. I then go down the list tossing a coin - heads is left, tails is right. After five flips, we have the teams! And that is what I did for today's game - we'll see how it goes!

Creeky is out this week as he's not feeling to good and Craig is still resting his groin. Gordo should be ordering another mojito by now (bassa!).

The guys over at the World Cup Blog have been taking pictures of some of the better looking supporters in Germany. To make life easier for the rest of us, they've kindly put together a video of them all.

It's a game of two halves

Thursday, June 22, 2006

The second half of our season kicked off with five regulars missing and a rabble of reserves called into action. According to my sources, it was 5-0 to the Mince and a drubbing looked on the cards but then a lack of marking and the wizardry of SEPA Scott turned defeat into victory for the Tatties.

A few managers have made some tactical transfers for the Fitbaw Fantasy Fives and the stats have been updated to show these. MOTM is also up for your voting pleasure.

Next week I expect Craig, Karl and Martie to be back. Gordo is still on holiday and I'll have to see how my knee is closer to the time. We could see a return of the HoD!

Nae Baws!

Wednesday, June 21, 2006

Seeing as I'm not playing, I didn't bring my kit which meant I forgot to bring the baw with me - sorry chaps. If anyone has one at home and is going to get kit, then could you bring it with you pelase? Ta.

Teams are up. I was tempted to do an IDOX vs The Rest of the World but that would have been a tad unfair on the poor IDOXers. Remember it's pitch 6 for a change this week.

Have a good game in my absence and could the non-IDOXers give your cash to Big Creeky please. IDOXers just give me your money as normal please.

Roll out the reserves

Tuesday, June 20, 2006

- Karl has a fever.
- Martie is down in Birmingham.
- Craig's groin is still sore after holiday (what was he up to?).
- Gordo is off to Cube and will miss the next three weeks.
- My knee is still knackered after lat week - I blame my new ugly boots.

So, I've managed to get Donny and William to play which gives us nine players and the hunt is still on for the mythical tenth man. I'll do all I can to get another player but I am running out of options. If anyone knows anyone who can play then please feel free to ask them and let me know. First come, first served!

UPDATE - SEPA Scott is going to play so there now are ten men! Hurrah! Teams shall go up at some point (maybe).

Transfer Window Now Open

Friday, June 16, 2006

Are you tired of a player? Is one of your squad not pulling his weight? Want to ditch that loser? Well now you can with the Fitbaw Fantasy Fives mid-season transfer window (patent pending). For one week only (well a few days) you can sell one, and only one, of your players and use that cash to buy someone shiney and new!

The players have re-rated each other, the same way that they did at the beginning of the season and that has led to a change in player values. Some have gone up, some have gone down and some have just remained the same. You, as a manager, can now sell ONE player and use that cash to buy another one. For example, if you have Craigo in your squad, then you only paid £5 for him but now he is worth £6 so if you chose to sell him, you can buy another player worth £6 or less. By the same token, if one of your squad was worth £7 but is now worth £6 then if you sell him you only have the £6 to buy with and you've lost a whole pound.

One important thing is that who ever you pick, you do not get any points that they have at the moment. You only get points that they accumulate in this coming half of the season.

So, to clarify, the rules are:

- one transfer only
- you can sell any player you like
- you can only buy another player worth the same, or less, than what you sold your original player for
- the price you sell a player for is his current value, not what you originally paid for him
- the price you buy a player for is his current value, not what he was originally worth
- you cannot have the same player more than once in your squad
- you will gets all the points that your new player earns from the 21st June onwards
- you do not get any points they had previously (seeing as you did not have them in your squad)
- you do not have to make any transfers if you do not wish to
- reply to the email I sent you if you wish to make a transfer
- all transfers must be made by 5pm, Wednesday 21st June 2006

The table below shows the original prices and the new ones:

PlayerOriginal CostNew Cost
Alan£9£9
Craigo£5£6
Creeky£6£7
Foxy£10£10
Gordo£9£7
Iain£7£8
Jon£8£9
Karl£6£6
Martie£7£5
Neil£5£5
Si£8£8

Another hot game

Thursday, June 15, 2006

I am filling in on web site duty today, whilst the chief is in court. Please bear with me - MOTM will be put up at some point today. Creeky.

Wee Report:
Another hot game which started with the impromptu team picking on pitch. The Mincers got off to a good start think it was 7-1 at one point then the heat/exhaustion took its toll and Stu and the tatty crew rapidly scored goals bringing the score to within 2 or 3. It became a real game as the tatties were all over the mince who just seemed to run out of legs. Good composure from Mince probably saved the game for them towards the end them keeping most of the possession. Anyway, well done to both teams.

Creeky.

Another pumping!

Thursday, June 08, 2006

Pish! And so concludes our match report.

Next week Craig and Jon are off (independently) to Barcelona for the Sonar Festival. Karl is still away which means we'll need a reserve. Steven won't be able to play as his groin pull is quite bad. I'll see if Donny is interested. Tamba is still recovering from the last time he played for us - that old knee injury is playing up again.

We're also coming up to the mid-season FFF transfer period. Here's the plan - we'll all rate the players in order again and then everyone will get their new price. The idea being that some of us may have changed in value, for example, I was originally £7 but after the last 20-odd games I may now be worth £5! So if you sold me, you'd only get £5 to spend on another player. The opposite may have happened and I could now be worth £9 so you could sell me for a profit and buy someone better. We'll see.

So what I need you guys to do is think on the rankings of the squad at the moment. Base it however you like but remember to put yourself at the bottom of the pile as we did last time. I'll send out an email at lunch that you can just reply to and that should make it easier.

Weary Legs

Wednesday, June 07, 2006

We're a man short for tonight as Gordo has had to pull out. He was playing last night and he was getting cramp and stuff and just feels he needs to rest the olg legs.

The hunt is on for the tenth man. Teams shall go up when I get a replacement.

UPDATE - Young Steven said he'd be able to play so we have ten! He's going to have to dive back home, grab his kit and head back into town so he'll be as near to 6:30 as possible. The teams are now up and I've tried to make sure that those of us who had the pleasure of defending against him last time are in the same team (apart from Jon which would have made the teams horribly unfair).

See you up there!

Alan's pish!

Thursday, June 01, 2006

Not our best game last night so sorry about the teams. I still think the teams were relatively balanced were it not for Alan making a blinding comeback and the fact that the Tatties' passes around the midfield seemed to always come to one of our players. Anyway, there's always next week.

And speaking of next week, Karl is still on holiday, Si and Jon may be away on a "team building exercise" and we'll see how Craig's strain is. So there may be reserves or there may be the Hat of Doooooom. Regardless, there is a plan for next week's teams. Foxy seems to have recovered the form that won him Player of the Year recently and Stuart is now just scoring for fun - so they'll be in opposite teams. Neil and Gordo are currently battling it out for the title of "The New Karl" so we'll also split those guys up to ensure one of them wins.

MOTM and stats are up. Si was last week's winner for the MOTM vote.

UPDATE - Craig has declared himself unfit for next week and then he's off on holiday for a week so that'll give him two weeks to fully recover hopefully. Jon and Si say they'll be back in time so we have our ten!
