The passing game

Thursday, March 30, 2006

It was 11-1 to the five man team when Donny arrived (and thank feck he did!) so we got to reset the scores and go from scratch. I say scratch but obviously the four man outfit were that little bit more tired which ultimately made all the difference (OK, that's a complete stretch but you can't blame a guy for trying).

With Stuart and Gordon combining like they never looked capable of last week, Neil and Tamba moving and passing well around the midfield and Craig bombing up and down the wing pinging the goals in, the Mincers were on for a hard fight.

And fight they did! Maybe the Tatties got tired of scoring but the Mince managed to find some space on the tiny wee pitch of crapness to work some good goals. They maneged to get back to two at one point but that was when the Tats woke up and got a few back for themselves.

I wasn't sure of the final score so if someone could let me know what they thought it was. I remember it being 11-7 but I seemed to be one behind the Tats' total all night so I made it up to 12.

Stats have been updated. but currently no MOTM as the website I use for them seems to be a bit screwy. I'll get one going as soon as I can. MOTM is up and running!

Next week should see the return of Foxy, John and hopefully Si too if his back's OK. Not sure about Creeky yet as he seems to be AVOIDING THE ISSUE! CREEKY ANSWER ME!

Iain and Craig are the hardest of the Hardcore

Si has had to pull out of tonight's game with a sore back. The doctor has him on pain killers and orders not to play. Luckily, Martie managed to scare up a replacement in the of Brian - remember him? So we have three reserves playing this week on the wee pitch. It promises to be a very different game indeed tonight!

The teams are up!

Slackers

Jon is on holiday this week and Foxy is playing golf up at Turnberry and won't be back in time for the match. So, Donny and Tamba will be playing instead. Teams will go up sometime on Wednesday.

No injuries other than Jon baws!

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Jon, who is normally delighted to win and is on a high on the way home, was very subdued last night. This was mainly due to the fact he took one of Stuart thunder shots straight to the bollocks. So apart from his knackers and me standing on the (foot)ball and falling over, we made it through with no injuries - hurrah!

So onto the game. It really was a case of everything went the Tatties way while nothing went the Mincers way. Almost all our shots were on target or in while most of the Mince shots were going all over the place. I noticed this more by the fact that Stuart swore like a navvie every time he shot wide. All in all, I think the Tatties just played a bit better together and it saw us through. Great stuff! MOTM and stuff it all up.

Next week Jon is on holiday and with Alan and Creeky out, we will be forced to call in a reserve! That man Donny is hanging out for a game so seeing as he is our official super sub, I'll ask him. Also, we're on a tiny park next week but I've asked if anyone cancels that they move us so hopefully we won't be confined to park 11.

Team/Injury News

Wednesday, March 22, 2006

So the teams are up and it was bloomin' hard this week. I think the Mincers look a bit strong but it we couldn't come up with a way to even it up just a wee bit without totally unbalancing it. But you never know in Fitbaw so we'll see what happens. Pitch eight this week.

Alan is back in work and typing with one hand. He's got physio appointments and the doc says six weeks til he can play again which is a quick recovery. He must super regenerative powers to go with his goal keeping ones.

Creeky still hasn't been able to get to the dentist to get his teeth checked which are still a bit sore and wobbly, so he's not too sure when he'll be able to enter the fray again. I reckon he's just trying to take as long as possible to preserve his 2.5 ranking! ;)

Next week we are relegated to tiny pitch number eleven. Foxy had some trouble getting through this morning and by the time he did (which was only a few minutes later than normal) all the normal sized ones had gone - bah!

The one-armed bandit

Thursday, March 16, 2006

It was all going so well! A close game, both teams up at different points, some good goals, and then Alan has to go and get injured - sheesh! Neil went with him to the hospital (thanks Neil!) and sends this report:

Just to let you know I left Alan in his wife's care last night, by which time he'd been satisfactorily doped up and popped back into place, and generally looking a whole lot happier than he had been a couple of hours earlier. The really good news is he managed to dissuade them from cutting through the venerable queens park top. So, the heirloom is still intact for future generations to enjoy.

So all looks good for Alan. If memory serves, it's about two months before they'll let you back into a contact situation and that even if Alan wants to come back from this one (or whether or not Mrs Gillies will let him!). For those of us with Alan in our FFF team, I'm sure we look forward to the summer transfer window! ;)

So, with Creeky and Alan out, the only thing being benched is the Hat of Doooooom - w00t! MOTM is up as are the stats and stuff.

Teams are up!

Wednesday, March 15, 2006

The teams have finally been posted! I was very busy this week and was waiting to make sure all the travellers were back in time.

So Uncle Si is back after visiting his new newphew, Charlie. Gordo is back from Prague despite the snow's best efforts to keep him in the pub. Martie is back from Vallencia after a brave display from the Gers. Creeky is still sore of face and that left one to come from the Hat. This week's victim was Jon-boy which gives us out ten.

Picking this week was quite tricky having to balance all the different players' skill levels and pace. Gordo is carrying a bit of an injury on his kness but seems to be OK to play. Craig and Gordo seem happy enough with the teams so I hope it's a going to be as good as game as it will be cold!

What's the chat?

Monday, March 13, 2006

There's a new service out on the intarwebs called Gabbly. What is does is put a wee chat window onto of what ever site you want to chat about with other users of that site. The idea being that it connects you with supposed like-minded people.

Or it could be used by a bunch of high quality Fitbaw players to talk about how awesome Fitbaw is and so on. Of course, for this to be any interest requires more than one person to be on it at the same time which may never happen. Anyway, chat away and see if anyone's there!

There's been a lot of traffic to the Gabbly site since they launched this week so it might be a bit slow. This will only work in IE 6 and Firefox 1.5 and above.

This has nothing to do with Fitbaw

But it's just too good to miss. Enjoy!

New baws please!

Thursday, March 09, 2006

Astro Baw!

A really fast paced, close game last night guys which I thought was one of the best we've had this season but that may have been because I was on the winning side! I also thought that the new baw was a cracker - not too slidey (unless you're in goals that is - foook!), not too light and doesn't bounce too high either.

MOTM is up, stats are up so that's that. Creeky's lip is a bit messed up and his teeth are still hanging in there so I think he's going to get them checked out and maybe take a wee rest from the Fitbaw which is fair enough. Martie should be back next week and Neil's cold will hopefully be all better too.

HoD Update

Tuesday, March 07, 2006

The Gibsonator drew young Karl's name from the Plastic Bag of Dooooom this week leaving only five names left to come out - Si, Jon, Craig, Neil and myself.

Teams to follow at some point.

UPDATE - Typical, no sooner do I announce the Hat news on the site and I get a mail from Neil pulling out! He has that nasty cold that's going about so Karl has stepped back in to the game and the Hat.

Match Report is up!!.

...please no death threats!
Creeky.

"You gotta be joking with the teams!" - Creeky

Thursday, March 02, 2006

Humph - I hate being right all the time! So another win for the Mincers. They were quick in attack and defended well too. Basically the opposite of us I suppose. Ah well, as Foxy says, it's only a gemme.

Last night fairly shook up the stats with Alan getting his ass off the bottom and Karl securing last place after his fifth loss in a row - ouch! MOTM is up as well so away and vote.

Next week, Martie if off to the Rangers game so the Hat may be on the lookout for one name. If anyone can't play then please let me know ASAP.
