The date has now been set! Mr Simon Pattullo has delcared him self fit(ish) and will be making his comeback one week on Wednesday. Initially, he would like to play in goal for his first game back but may venture out of goals towards the end of the match if his ankle feels better. We look forward to your return sir!
As one door opens, another closes - we are going to have another retirement soon. Tam "The Bam" Barker has handed in his notice at work and will be leaving the company this coming Friday. He will continue to play fitbaw up until the end of March but then he'll be getting married and upping sticks to Laandaan. No longer will we be witness to the mighty toe sending a thundering shot towards goal. Never again will we see his Dorothy-esq shoes "sprinting" up and down the boards. We will just have to remember how his "large" top stretches of the curve of his powerful abs ("I think it's shrunk!")! Thanks for playing Tam and best of luck with the "transfer".

I have two actually on why one team wins over another at the moment. First off, I reckon that there are four main goal scorers - Foxy, Stuart, Martie and Gordo. Now, my theory is that whatever team has the most goal scorers will win. Most weeks, one of them has been missing which has lead to a 2v1 of goal scorers and, of course, the team with the 2 won. There have even been weeks where one team has had 3v1 and again, they won. The only time this has gone against the grain was the first match of the season when Stuart was all on his own and still won (I can only assume that's because I was in his team!). The only other time was the other week when it was bloody close.
So there you go - theory number one. I would ask whoever is picking the teams to try and keep this in mind. Think that might be big Creeky this week. Theory number two is much simpler - the team with Stuart wins.

I've just called Powerleague to check the state of the pitches. There are poeple playing on them at the moment so the snow isn't being given a chance to settle so I'm afraid that the game is on tonight. Bring yer mittens chaps!

The last time Tam picked the teams, it was a draw! Can he do it again??
Gordo is off as he's sick. How sick is he? Well when he called he was in bed with his sister so I'd say he's pretty sick! Ho ho! I joke! He has a cold. Ponto is playing again (or should that be "as usual"?).

Last night's was a cracker. Neck and neck all the way through. Maybe not the prettiest game to watch (Si said that he had watched the World XI game the other night and said we were in a different league - not in a good way), but great fun to play in IMHO.
That win puts big Tam up into second place!! Alan is slowly climbing back to his usual spot too but no one can catch the six game in a row Field Marshal!
Man of the match is up too - away and vote!

This week sees the first birthday of Fitbaw! Although the first game we played (with 11 men) was on the 11th February 2004, "official" records did not start until the 18th. On that day, when we didn't even have "dark" and "light", let alone "Mince" and "Tatties", the teams were:
Mince: Creeky, Craig, Iain, Tamba & Si
Tatties: Alan, Luke, Neil, Tom & Scott
And so began Alan's reign at the top of the leaderboard as the Tatties scraped a 14-13 victory!
Tonight's match will start with a 1 second silence for Mikey Tamba wherever he may be!
Happy Birthday Baws!

Sorry about the delay for everything - I was stuck in a basement in Carlisle all of Thursday and Friday surrounded by lots of servers. Fun fun fun!
MOTM is now up - if you can't remember who you thought was the best, then let me remind you that it was probably me as I was awsome! (in the last 10 minutes anyway!) The stats are also updated so everyone can see how much of a cheat Stuart is! ;-)
After all the shocking defeats that I've had to endure recently, I'll be picking the teams this week. Neil is away in London and won't be back in time but Big Martie should hopefully be back. The Ponto will be the tenth man - Young Karl is still on holiday in Finland or someplace cold.
In other news, SEPA Si was given the OK by the Doc to start running around today with a Fitbaw comeback in another 4 weeks. Si reckons 2-3 and then back in goal. The comeback is ON!

Big Eek is away today and so the MOTM poll won't be set up until tomorra.

Things have been a bit messy this week. We've had our first injury of the year and our first official retirement EVER. Martie has hurt his toe and Luke has decided to give fitbaw a miss for a while. He will still step in now again as a reserve to help us out from time to time but his days as a hardcore regular have now passed. We will miss might Ronaldo step overs and his grey top!
Ponto is filling in for Martie - Stu will get me the teams when they are picked. If they've not been picked by the time you have to pack your bag, bring both please OK? Also, could those that have a old fashion Mince top (Queen's Park) please let themselves me known?
UPDATE - OK teams picked. Poor Tatties are on for a mashing!! :( No wonder The Field Marshall is top of the league! ;-)

Stuart is picking the teams this week (if he checks his mail) so I'll post the teams as soon as I receive them.
It's the usual mob this week. No one has said they can't play so same squad as last week except Martie is back in and Karl is out.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but I've added a wee icon at the bottom of the team listings. It looks like this:
This is a link to an XML feed of the teams which means, if you subscribe to the link via a RSS service, then you can get automatic notifications of when teams are posted or updated.
Most blogs have RSS feeds of their content and it's a good way of keeping up to date with sites you read regularly without the hassle of having to keep checking to see if something new has been posted. The main site also has one.
If this seems a bit geeky then please just ignore! :)

Cracking game last night guys. Is that the first time in living memory that a team has come from more than 3 goals down to win? I think it might be! Not to mention the 8 goal run! Tatties played some lovely football, as did the Mince on occasion, but the Mince finishing left a lot to be desired. If only we'd had those 10 minutes extra that we lost at the beginning then we might have snatched it or at least managed a draw! Ah "if only"...
Stuart remains undefeated while Alan, in a turn around of last year, is still searching for that elusive first victory (that Foxy only just scraped last night)!
Please vote for the MOTM and make sure you include a subject in your comment or it won't be posted.

One of the hardest things in organising fitbaw is collecting all the cash. Trying to do it up at the pitch is a nightmare - remembering who's paid, folk not having change, money being locked in lockers. It's especially tricky at the moment as the kitty isn't flush enough to just cover the cost and then collect the money afterwards.
That's why we've been collecting the money during the day rather than at the pitch. This is still proving to be tricky. I still have to go chase people for cash - some still don't pay up. So I'm asking you all to please and remember to have a fiver on you on Wednesday afternoons. Go out at lunch and get some money. We work beside a bank for crying out loud! When you've got your money, give it me (3rd and 4th floors) or Foxy (1st floor). Don't wait until we come to ask you for it - give willingly. Think of the kitty - it's poor and hungry for your money! (Non-IDOX people - this doesn't matter for you!)
