About Fitbaw

Fitbaw has been running since early 2004. Our first official game was the 11th February but no official score or note of the teams was kept until the next week where the stats began. Our official birthday is now the 18th February.

Since those early days we've played every Wednesday (apart from a well earned Christmas break) and are still going strong. Kick off is 6:30pm and we play at the Powerleague up at Townhead.

We work with a "handcore" squad of around 11 or 12 and these guys are committed to playing every week come rain or shine. Throughout the course of a season (which runs January to December) we normally have someone leave the squad for various reasons and there is also an end of season promotion for the reserve who's filled in the most. These promotions are few and far between and highly sought after (or so I like to think). If all hardcore squad players can play, which means that we have more than 10 players, then the "Hat of Doom" comes out.

The website has been going almost as long as the games. Have a look at the archives if you like. I keep tweeking the with the style and this is probably version 2.2 or so. You can see previous versions at the Internet Archive.

In 2007 we moved to our new home of fitbaw.org and since then the sytle has (hopefully) improved but now we also have custom themes depending on what time of year it is or what special day it may be.
